The dimension sub-scores matter more than the total. A company scoring Green overall but Red on Data Readiness will hit a wall at month 5 when data quality gaps emerge (the 5.2-month average discovery point). A company scoring Yellow overall but Green on Leadership Alignment has the organizational muscle to close gaps quickly.

The disagreement signal. When the CEO scores Leadership Alignment at Green but the CIO scores it Yellow, that disagreement is itself a readiness indicator. Cisco’s data shows Pacesetters have change management plans (91%) while the 87% do not (35%). The planning conversation is the alignment mechanism. If your leadership team cannot agree on where you stand, you are not ready — and the assessment just saved you from discovering that at month 6.

What This Means for Your Organization
The readiness scorecard is not a maturity model or a benchmarking exercise. It is a pre-flight checklist. Airlines do not skip pre-flight checks because the plane looks fine from the outside, and companies should not skip readiness assessment because the vendor demo looked impressive.
